Jeff Stelling takes aim at Leeds United live on Sky Sports after time-wasting complaints

Jeff Stelling has unloaded on Leeds United and Jesse Marsch for their complaints surrounding time-wasting in the Premier League in recent weeks.

The Sky Sports host insisted that after the Whites went down to 10 men against Aston Villa, they killed every minute they could to secure the 0-0 draw at Elland Road.

Marsch admitted this week that he has held conversations with the Premier League and has seen positive outcomes regarding what will no doubt change games this season and beyond.

Speaking live on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday [08 October, 13:20], Stelling could not believe that he has been listening to so many complaints after what he has seen.

“Sorry, I’m just killing abit of time, that’s all,” he joked.

“I’m not sure what Jesse Marsch is going to think of it. Seriously, it was a bit rich to criticise Villa for wasting time but when Leeds went down to 10 men, they killed every minute they could.”

For the Fans.

This isn’t about players, managers and contradictions – it is about the fans.

Hard-earned money and time are spent following teams, especially those in the Premier League, and when clubs are trying to kill games off from the very first whistle, it is infuriating.

Stelling and the likes of Roy Keane and Steven Gerrard can pose questions about the complaints all they want, but when Emiliano Martinez is holding up goal kicks and the ball is being kicked away in the first five minutes, it’s embarrassing.

Every club kills time if they go down to 10 men, that is no surprise and we, as the fans, wanted that to happen in order to get that point when facing heavy pressure.

If you can sit there and say that Villa fans wanted their team to sit back and waste time, without going for the win at Elland Road, then fair enough, but we would call that rubbish.

Hopefully, changes are made, then who will be laughing?
