Jeff Stelling stunned by Sunday Leeds United development live on talkSPORT as Ally McCoist agrees it’s ‘incredible’
Jeff Stelling can’t believe that Leeds United have extended their run of away draws in the FA Cup after getting a trip to Peterborough United in the Third Round.
The former Sky Sports host reacted live on his new talkSPORT breakfast show on 4 December after the draw a day earlier extended their record-breaking sequence to 13, with the last time the Whites got a home draw in the competition in 2016 [Yorkshire Evening Post, 3 December].
Daniel Farke’s side will head to League One Peterborough’s London Road in the New Year, with Ally McCoist describing the 13th-consecutive away draw as “incredible”.
Stelling said (6.29am): “What about Leeds United? Can you believe? 13 times in a row drawn away from home in the FA Cup.”
“Incredible. Incredible,” replied McCoist.
Unlikely
Leeds United would back their chances of getting through this draw thanks to the Posh being lower league opposition and Farke’s men being in such strong form in the Championship.
But it necessarily makes it harder for the club to go on a run in the FA Cup if they are always on the road, and it is indeed fairly incredible that they continue to rack up away draws.
However, while fans always love a cup run it is certainly not the top priority for the Whites this season when Farke has this side gunning for promotion to the Premier League.

Those who suffer the most are probably going to be the youngsters and those on the periphery of the first-team squad.
The likes of Charlie Cresswell and Joe Gelhardt have barely been seen since Leeds United were knocked out of the Carabao Cup against Salford back in August, and their lack of opportunities in the Championship since have both in line to potentially leave in January.
With the drop in quality from the regular first XI noticeable of late a few cup games would be a useful way to play some of those who are struggling to get into the side some minutes, and might allow Patrick Bamford to break his goal drought, but the threat of injuries is never far away for Leeds.
In other Leeds United news, Tony Dorigo had to reassure Bryn Law “it really happened Bryn” as the commentator was left aghast at what he had seen at Elland Road.
