Jeff Stelling predicts result of Leeds United Premier League clash v West Ham United for Sky Sports
Jeff Stelling is predicting a close clash between Leeds and West Ham when they meet at Elland Road on Wednesday night in the Premier League.
The Whites earned a vital draw against Newcastle on New Years eve with a hard-fought 0-0 draw to put more of a gap between themselves and the relegation zone, while the Hammers lost to Brentford to make it five in a row.
But there is still just two points between the two clubs and with West Ham desperate for a win to move away from the drop zone themselves, and Sky Sports host Stelling is predicting a tight game in his Super 6 predictions (3 January).
Leeds will be the home side for the game and with the Elland Road crowd pushing them against a struggling side, Stelling has gone for a 1-0 win for Jesse Marsch’s side.
West Ham have been severely struggling this season and Leeds must use this game as a way to separate themselves from the pack and push up the league table.
Momentum is a big thing in football and after the draw against Newcastle, morale at Elland Road is high and Whites fans will feel as though this is their game to lose.
Defensively they looked very solid, while the energy and quality in midfield was good enough to create chances too. Newcastle has the best defence in the league though, whereas West Ham are really poor.
If they’re capable of turning that momentum into a good attacking performance, then there is no excuse for Leeds not to come away with all three points from this game.
West Ham will make it difficult for sure, but this is a winnable game and these are the fixtures that we must win if we want to secure our safety in advance to avoid another scenario like last season.
