Jeff Stelling predicts Leeds United v Manchester United showdown at Elland Road

Jeff Stelling has predicted Manchester United to beat Leeds United 3-1 when the two sides meet again on Sunday afternoon.

Both teams played out a thrilling 2-2 draw at Old Trafford on Wednesday evening (8 February) as Leeds kickstarted the post-Jesse Marsch era.

However, Stelling doesn’t feel they will be able to repeat the trick on Sunday (12 February) and has backed Erik ten Hag’s side to get back to winning ways.

“Brentford are flying. They are unbeaten in nine and have won four from five, however, Arsenal have been on a different level at home this campaign, winning eight and drawing once,” wrote Stelling (Super Six predictions)

“I think it will be a tight game but I do think Arsenal will get over the line with the added quality they have. Elsewhere, Man Utd will win at Leeds and Manchester City will get past Aston Villa.”

Repeat the trick

It’s hard to agree with Stelling on this one, particularly after Leeds’ performance on Wednesday. Michael Skubala’s men were electric in the first half and caused their hosts all sorts of problems, with Willy Gnonto once again shining.

The diminutive Italian is proving to be one of the standout youngsters in the Premier League and it will only be a matter of time before some of Europe’s biggest clubs come sniffing. As for Sunday’s clash, the Whites will fancy their chances of at least picking up a point, particularly with a packed Elland Road behind them.

There’s no animosity towards the manager and everyone will be pulling in the right direction to hopefully see a famous win over their fiercest rivals. Skubala could well be in charge of the fixture at Elland Road after Leeds’ move for Andoni Iraola appears to have hit the skids.

Time is of the essence when it comes to an appointment being made, but ensuring the right candidate takes the job is of paramount importance.
