Jeff Stelling makes ‘Massive’ Leeds United admission after win v Sunderland
Jeff Stelling was left wanting more from Leeds United despite their 2-1 win over Sunderland at Elland Road on Monday.
Pascal Struijk earned the Whites a dramatic three points against Regis Le Bris’ men with two goals, the second a 95th-minute winner.
The Dutchman was brought on in the 71st minute in a substitute that many fans questioned but in the end, Daniel Farke’s decision was proven right.
Reacting to the massive win, Stelling shared what he thinks Leeds are lacking within their starting XI.
Leeds United could do with reinforcement for the Premier League
While promotion to the Premier League isn’t yet guaranteed, after their late winner against the Black Cats, it feels like the West Yorkshire outfit are now closer than ever to achieving that goal.
Leeds’ performances in the second tier this season have been some of the most dominant in the league but, as with any team, there’s always room for improvement.
Which is exactly what Stelling suggested while live on talkSPORT (18 February, 06:11am), saying: “I didn’t think Leeds were incredible but they were relentless, I just think they lack a little creative spark but it was a massive win.
“In terms of mentally, that must give you such a boost, going into big games, Sheffield United and then West Brom after that.”

Leeds United must line up new transfers already
As we edge closer to the end of the 2024/25 season, teams are likely already looking at some of the transfer targets they’d like to add to their ranks next term.
The winter transfer window may have just passed without the Whites adding any extra first-team players to their ranks but it certainly gave us an insight into what sort of players Leeds think they need to help take them to the next level.
Players such as Adam Armstrong and Cameron Archer were linked with a switch to Elland Road and while the former may have ended up going to The Hawthorns instead, that doesn’t mean Farke will have stopped looking at other number nines to bring in over the summer.
Left-back could also end up being an issue for the West Yorkshire outfit as Junior Firpo’s contract is set to expire at the end of the term with no talks of an extension yet being shared.
Other areas within Leeds’ squad will also need looking at due to the players currently on loan.
Of course, only time will tell what the future holds but at the moment, fans need to get behind their team and show why they’re one of the favourites to go up this season, especially since their next game comes against second-placed Sheffield United.
