Jeff Stelling highlights ’cause for concern’ at Leeds in new Sunderland prediction

Leeds United face Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Sunday as they look to continue their impressive Premier League form.

Daniel Farke’s side are up to 16th in the table, six points clear of the relegation zone after picking up two wins and two draws from their last four matches.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin can’t stop scoring for Leeds, and the former England international will be hoping to find the net for the sixth consecutive game against Sunderland.

However, despite their recent run of results, the Whites could be set for a difficult afternoon on Wearside.

Leeds to continue away struggles vs Sunderland

Leeds have been superb at Elland Road over the past few weeks, securing wins over Crystal Palace and Chelsea, as well as picking up a point against Liverpool.

Farke’s side are a completely different proposition on their travels though, and have only won once away from home all season.

The Whites beat Wolves at Molineux back in September, and their only other away point came earlier this month, as Calvert-Lewin’s late header snatched a 1-1 draw with Brentford.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Jeff Stelling believes that Leeds will continue to suffer away from Elland Road, as they make the trip to the Stadium of Light.

He said: “Sunderland have made the Stadium of Light a real fortress, while Leeds’ away from is still a cause for concern.”

“I think one goal will be enough to decide this. Sunderland 1-0 Leeds.”

How can Leeds end their poor away form?

It is no real surprise that Leeds have performed better at home, given the atmosphere often created around Elland Road.

However, since a switch of tactical thinking at the start of the month, the Whites have looked a better side in general, at home and on their travels.

Sunderland are missing several key players due to the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), and Sunday provides the perfect opportunity for Farke’s side to leave their poor away form behind them.

With Calvert-Lewin firing up top, Leeds are always in with a chance, as the former Everton centre-forward has the ability to find a goal out of nothing.

The Whites will hope that they can replicate some of their Elland Road energy against Sunderland on Sunday and pick up their second away win of the season.
