Jean-Kevin Augustin sends message to Leeds fans after win, Tottenham star replies

Jean-Kevin Augustin made his home debut for Leeds United on Saturday when he came off the bench in the 1-0 win against Bristol City at Elland Road.

Augustin, 22, is yet to start a match since joining Leeds on loan from RB Leipzig in the January transfer window but Marcelo Bielsa has been slowly bedding him in with three appearances as a substitute in the last three games.

After the win, Augustin took to his personal Instagram account to send a message to fans who made his Elland Road debut a day to remember.

“Thank you so much for the incredible support again,” said the striker. “Perfect day for us. We keep believing!”

Several players replied to Augustin’s post on Instagram with Kalvin Phillips and Ian Poveda among them.

Interestingly, Tottenham star Serge Aurier also responded to Augustin, with the former Paris Saint-Germain right-back saying in French: “Son received 5/5.”

Bielsa is certainly taking his time to get Augustin up to speed with both his tactics and fitness levels and it could be several more weeks before the 22-year-old gets to start a Championship fixture.

Patrick Bamford’s barren run in front of goal continued on Saturday with the Leeds striker now failing to score in his eight of his last nine outings.

Augustin is yet to really show why he should be starting ahead of Bamford but that is only because he is only getting roughly 15 minutes at the end of each game.

We need to see the Frenchman start.
