Javi Gracia shares Tyler Adams update ahead of Leeds United Premier League clash v Wolves

Javi Gracia has revealed Tyler Adams is with a specialist after the Leeds United midfielder sustained a hamstring injury during training.

The 24-year-old was omitted from the USMNT squad on Wednesday after the Whites confirmed his injury blow (Leeds United’s official website, 15 March).

The Leeds United head coach couldn’t put a timescale on when the influential midfielder would be available to return.

“At this moment he’s with the specialist so we’ll see how long he’s out of the team. We have other players. All of us know Tyler is a key player. But We have to manage with the squad we have,” said the Spaniard (quoted by Phil Hay, 16 March).

Time to deliver

Southampton’s defeat to Brentford meant Gracia’s side avoided falling bottom of the Premier League. The weekend fixture against Wolves is a golden opportunity for Leeds to pull themselves back into the heavily contested relegation dogfight.

Crystal Palace are the latest team to find themselves dragged into the melee. There are nine teams who are fighting for their lives and if Leeds can put a run of wins together, Gracia’s side could easily find themselves well clear of the relegation zone.

Julen Lopetegui’s men are four points ahead of the Whites and currently sit in 13th place. There’s been a marginal improvement under Gracia but now is the time to deliver. The Elland Road side simply cannot pass up opportunities against their direct rivals, particularly with a tough away fixture against Arsenal on the horizon.

In other Leeds United news, a star first-team player would reportedly be “very happy” to go as an audacious transfer approach is lined up from abroad.
