Jason Cundy fires dig at Leeds United live on talkSPORT after huge win

Leeds United took a major step towards clinching promotion to the Premier League with a 2-1 win over Preston on Saturday.

The Whites took an early lead through Manor Solomon before Kaine Kesler-Hayden bagged Preston’s equaliser minutes later.

But after Jayden Bogle re-established Leeds’ one-goal advantage, Daniel Farke’s men were able to claim all three points.

The Whites’ victory coincided with Sheffield United’s loss at Plymouth, meaning the West Yorkshire giants hold a five-point cushion between themselves and the third-place Blades.

Jason Cundy fires instant dig at Leeds United

The Whites could be on course for their third consecutive victory, as they will fancy their chances of beating a lowly Oxford side on Friday.

Speaking live on talkSPORT [12 April, 18:39], Jason Cundy jokingly called Farke’s side “dirty Leeds”, before co-host Jermaine Pennant hit back and responded by saying: “Go on Leeds”, and chanting Marching on Together.

Leeds have promotion destiny back in their own hands

Leeds recently slipped out of the automatic promotion spots into third position when they managed just one win in six attempts before their victory at Middlesbrough on 8 April.

However, Farke’s men have since shown their admirable character with their win over play-off chasers Boro, which they successfully followed up by beating Preston.

Meanwhile, promotion rivals Sheffield United have lost their last three games, meaning that Leeds’ destiny is now well back in their own hands.

The Elland Road faithful will have feared the worst for their automatic promotion credentials when they were beaten by Portsmouth last month before being held to draws against QPR, Swansea, and Luton.

But with four games left to play, Farke and Co now find themselves in a position where they are seemingly on course to lift the Championship title.

There is no doubt that Leeds will benefit from the fact that promotion rivals Sheffield United and Burnley go head-to-head on Monday 21 April.

All eyes are on the possible promotion party coming at Elland Road.
