Jarrod Bowen labels Elland Road atmosphere 'one of the best' after Leeds United draw
West Ham ace Jarrod Bowen has admitted the atmosphere created by Leeds United fans at Elland Road is “one of the best” after the two sides put on an entertaining show on Wednesday night (4 January).
Goals from Wilfried Gnonto and Rodrigo were enough for Jesse Marsch’s side to pick up a valuable point against fellow strugglers West Ham, with the Whites remaining two points above the relegation zone.
Despite not picking up all three points, a sold-out Elland Road provided a cauldron-like atmosphere as both sides went toe-to-toe in an enthralling encounter.
After heading back down the M1 with a point, Bowen waxed lyrical about the Leeds support, dubbing Elland Road ‘one of the best’ atmospheres in the Premier League.
Speaking to West Ham TV (January 4), the 26-year-old said: “It was a proper fight.
“Two teams (that were) really fighting. It’s always a great fixture, coming up here to Leeds.

“With the atmosphere they create, it’s one of the best for me personally. To play in these games, I want to say it’s good fun, but it’s a constant dog fight for 90 minutes.
“We’re disappointed not to get three points after taking the lead but, if you look at their reaction after going behind, we perhaps expected it. We take the point and go again.”
The twelfth man
The atmosphere created by the Leeds faithful really can help pick results up in the Premier League.
Earlier this season, the 3-0 win against Chelsea at Elland Road was sparked by the stadium’s atmosphere, with Brenden Aaronson dispossessing Edouard Mendy early on with a highly aggressive press – and the players clearly fed off the positive energy that day.
It is not just the boost to Leeds players but also the fear factor to opponents that has helped the club for so many years. Travelling to Elland Road has long been dubbed a daunting task, and any away side will know a proper match awaits when playing in West Yorkshire.
On Wednesday night, the crowd were once again at their raucous best despite the team’s recent slump in form. With just one win coming on the road this season, the Whites’ home form will have to stand up if they wish to steer clear of the relegation zone.
In other Leeds United news, Victor Orta could make moves to sign this MLS defender in either the summer or January and it won’t break the bank.
