Jamie Redknapp: Leeds United will be nervous after Burnley beat Southampton on Thursday night
Jamie Redknapp has insisted that Leeds United will be slightly nervous after Burnley beat Southampton in the Premier League on Thursday.
The Clarets went five points behind the Whites with the win, and play again before Jesse Marsch’s men run out at Crystal Palace.
Burnley could be two points behind Leeds if they beat Wolves on Sunday which would drag them into the relegation picture once again.
Speaking live on Sky Sports after coverage of the game [21 April, 22:08], Redknapp picked out the Whites.
“Before the game, I said Leeds were not involved, but now they have to be,” he said.
“I think they have to be a little bit nervous.”
Marsch will not believe just how bad Southampton were watching along at Turf Moor last night, they were shocking.
It makes it even harder to believe how we didn’t take three points from them a couple of weeks ago at Elland Road.
Having said that though, it is still in our own hands no matter what happens over the weekend before we play.
Realistically, Everton are the ones who really need to watch themselves given they play Liverpool, Chelsea and Leicester next up.
Even if Burnley beat Wolves on Sunday, we are still ahead and beating Crystal Palace would widen that gap yet again.
Wolves still have Europe in their sights, so they will be going for broke at Turf Moor, unlike Southampton last night.
Either way, we need to concentrate on ourselves, we need to pick up points, starting on Monday evening.
