Jamie Redknapp: Brenden Aaronson could’ve scored goal of the season for Leeds United v Crystal Palace
Jamie Redknapp believes Brenden Aaronson could’ve scored the goal of the season just before Pascal Struijk put Leeds United ahead against Crystal Palace.
Struijk’s 10th-minute goal was cancelled out in the first half by Odsonne Édouard’s 24th-minute header as Leeds went into the break all square.
Redknapp was in awe of the American after he glided past a number of Palace’s backline to help set up the Whites’ opener in South London.

Redknapp said (Sky Sports, 14:56, 9 October) “This is just magnificent, he gets it with three or four men around him and if he scores that it’s probably goal of the season.”
Not wrong
Had Aaronson gone on to score then it would’ve certainly been a goal-of-the-season contender, without a doubt. The American made it look so easy as he weaved through players at will.
He has been a real bright spark for Leeds and against Palace, particularly in the first half, he displayed his high level of creativity and attacking awareness in a half that should’ve seen Leeds go in with a lead.
The American has the awareness to play one-touch football in tight areas and was able to start numerous attacks for Leeds at Selhurst Park. Keeping him fit and firing will be crucial for Jesse Marsch, particularly with the World Cup fast approaching.

Resting him when Leeds are in front or are playing in less significant games is a must considering the high press and high energy that Leeds, and in particular Aaronson like to play with.
If he continues to perform like this, there will undoubtedly be interest in the American from some of Europe’s bigger sides.
In other Leeds United news, an unexpected exit could be on the cards at Leeds after what happened in the Premier League on Friday.
