Jamie O’Hara rips into one Leeds player who ‘doesn’t give you enough’

talkSPORT pundit Jamie O’Hara has questioned whether Patrick Bamford has the goals in him to fire Leeds United to promotion.

Leeds lost 1-0 to Wigan on Saturday and it was a result that reminded fans of the defeat to the same side last season that kick-started a poor run of form that saw Marcelo Bielsa’s men drop out of the top two and into the play-offs.

New striker signing Jean-Kevin Augustin wasn’t named on the bench on Saturday, which infuriated some fans on social media.

Talking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast (talkSPORT, Monday, 6am), O’Hara said, “I can’t believe what happens with Leeds around this time they just seem to fall away.

“There are a lot of Leeds fans not happy that new signing Augustin wasn’t even in the squad, didn’t make the bench.

“If you’re bringing him in from a big club and to play Championship football you’re expecting him to be the man to beat.

“For me, Bamford doesn’t give you enough, he misses so many big chances. He’s a very good player at that level but you need someone who can make a difference.

“Fulham have got Aleksandar Mitrovic, West Brom have got Charlie Austin. Is Bamford going to be the man who gets Leeds promoted? I don’t know.”

O’Hara is repeating what a lot of Leeds fans have been saying over the weekend.

We were surprised that Augustin wasn’t named on the bench on Saturday but that’s in the past and Leeds have two huge games coming up that could define the season.

It starts with Nottingham Forest on Saturday and we fully expect Bamford to start again.

However, Augustin must be on the bench – just his presence will give Leeds a lift and he’ll have had almost two weeks working with Bielsa.

Irrespective, the fans need to get behind the club more than ever now – and to be fair the backlash against Bamford has been online rather than at the grounds.

Leeds’ away support is loud and we’re expecting the City Ground to be rocking on Saturday. Three points will stop the abuse online straight away.
