Jamie O’Hara: Leeds United have signed nobody of note this summer and the Whites are in big trouble

Jamie O’Hara has slammed Leeds United live on talkSPORT and has suggested the Whites are in “big trouble” after losing their two best players this summer.

Raphinha’s departure to Barcelona was confirmed on Wednesday 13 July and the Brazilian follows Kalvin Phillips in leaving Elland Road this summer.

Despite spending over £90million and bringing in six new faces, O’Hara believes the Whites will struggle next season.

Talking on talkSPORT (Wednesday 13 July) O’Hara said: “Leeds have now lost Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha, they’re in big trouble.

“I know Leeds fans will come on here and say we’ve signed players but they’ve signed nobodies.

“They’re in big trouble and I think Jesse Marsch is going to get the sack.”

Get a reaction

It is clear that O’Hara is trying to get a reaction out of Leeds United fans and he undoubtedly will after comments like that.

Leeds never really stood a chance of keeping Raphinha or Phillips this summer so surely bringing in nearly £100million worth of talent is the most the club hierarchy could’ve done.

He suggests that Leeds are signing nobodies, but no one had heard of Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips until a few years ago.

His argument is completely flawed.

Leeds have placed themselves in a far better position than a lot of their rivals regardless of losing two of their main assets.

They’ve reinvested smartly and certainly look to stand a better chance of staying clear of the relegation zone in the 2022/23 season.

The club have backed Marsch and it is now time for the American to deliver with the players that he has added to the squad.

It is crucial the club give him time to develop his style of play and not pull the trigger early if things don’t go to plan initially.

Considering the amount that has been spent this summer, it is unlikely that the American won’t be given time to succeed at Elland Road.

It will be interesting to see how O’Hara’s comments stand up come the end of the season.
