Jamie O'Hara and Laura Woods clash over Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford
Jamie O’Hara has hit out at Patrick Bamford’s England inclusion after the Leeds United striker made his debut against Andorra on Sunday.
Speaking on talkSPORT [05/09/21] the morning after the Three Lions’ 4-0 win at Wembley, ex-Tottenham Hotspur midfielder wasted no time in introducing himself to the airwaves.
He asked: “Are we really talking about Bamford straight away? It’s just boring isn’t it, I don’t even think he should be there.”
Laura Woods replied: “Wow, Jamie.”
O’Hara: “Mason Greenwood should be there, in my opinion. Is Patrick Bamford going to play in the World Cup next year? He isn’t.
“He probably deserves a cap. So fair play to him and Gareth Southgate for handing them out like confetti.”

“You’ve got to give Patrick Bamford an opportunity because he’s earned his chance, he’s earned his opportunity,” Ally McCoist hit back.
O’Hara: “Is he better than Danny Ings, Mason Greenwood, Harry Kane, Dominic Calvert-Lewin?
McCoist: “He certainly deserves a mention in that category.”
O’Hara: “Oh come on mate. I just don’t see it.”
Woods: “I just think if you’ve been given an opportunity, you’ve earned it, but it’s an interesting conversation to have.
“Jamie O’Hara’s just come in and gone straight for the jugular.”
O’Hara: “Well you asked me the question!”
17 goals not enough?
Harry Kane [23] was the only Englishman to score more Premier League goals than Bamford [17] last season, while Mason Greenwood struck just seven times in 31 outings.
Of course, Greenwood has played a bit wider for Manchester United and started this season on fire, but he has been patchy while Bamford has been a pillar of consistency for the Whites under Marcelo Bielsa.
It’s baffling to hear his inclusion being questioned, especially against a nation like Andorra. Surely Bamford deserves a chance?
O’Hara even contradicts himself by saying he shouldn’t have been there, and then claiming he deserves a cap. Which is it, Jamie?
Woods and McCoist came out to bat for the Whites star and pretty much rubbished O’Hara’s remarks.
The suggestion by Leeds fans that O’Hara has an agenda against their club isn’t likely to dissipate after this latest outburst.
