Jamie Carragher & Rob Green thrilled by Leeds keeper Illan Meslier in Premier League

Jamie Carragher and Rob Green have been thrilled by the performances of Leeds United keeper Illan Meslier in the Premier League.

The young Frenchman has broken numerous records, including the most clean sheets in a season by a keeper under the age of 21, previously held by Joe Hart

Green claimed that there aren’t much better with the technical ability that Meslier has, and that is the bare minimum expected of him at Elland Road.

Speaking on Sky Sports ahead of the game, Green was full of praise for the main stopper at Elland Road under Marcelo Bielsa.

“It’s tough for him,” he said.

“You get exposed so much playing as a goalkeeper playing for that side and it’s one that his confidence and playing out is a bare minimum.

“His ability on the ball is up there with the best, the demands put on him by Bielsa is that is expected, when he goes for the safe option, he goes bananas. His touch is brilliant, impeccable.

Carragher appeared to agree over the young Frenchman, claiming that it was something else that has caught his eye this season.

“It’s not just his technical ability that I admire, it’s the courage for such a young goalkeeper.”

Meslier has been superb.

The young keeper has divided opinion like marmite, you either love him or you hate him, but all of the love is coming from Elland Road.

Not many have come into the Premier League at this age and had the impact that Meslier has had, and he has only just turned 21-years-old.

Kiko Casilla may be disgraced, but he was a former Real Madrid keeper and he is easily being kept on the bench from a player with 5% of his experience.

West Ham will test Meslier massively in the air, and he has to come and prove himself by coming for every single cross and ball into the box.
