Jamie Carragher gushes over Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams in England v United States World Cup 2022 clash

Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams impressed Jamie Carragher as England failed to get the job done against United States on 25 November.

Adams started the game and played the entire 90 minutes as he anchored the midfield for Gregg Berhalter’s side.

The final score was 0-0 but it was a game dominated by the American side and their midfield certainly played an important role in keeping the Three Lions at bay.

Via Twitter, Carragher wrote, “A draw was a fair result, the energy of Adams & Mckennie was excellent & Pulisic showed his class at times. Harry Maguire was superb for England. No Foden.”

This United States midfield was top drawer and kept Gareth Southgate’s men on the back foot throughout the game.

Carragher did not mention Yunus Musah but the 19-year-old too was incredible at breaking the lines for the Americans and he kept the English side on the back foot.

However, all of this could be done because of what Adams offered the team off the ball and his constant running around and defensive shift ensured that Weston McKennie and Musah could venture forward.

In many ways, it was the perfect performance for Adams and we have seen him put in similar displays for the Whites since joining.

One can now see why Jesse Marsch was so keen on signing the young American and we cannot wait to see the player he eventually becomes for the Whites.

It was also good to see Brenden Aaronson coming off the bench although we would like to see more of him in an American shirt, perhaps off the wing.
