Jack Jenkins departs Leeds United as Elland Road exit confirmed this transfer window

Leeds United midfielder Jack Jenkins has left Elland Road to join Halifax Town on a permanent deal, the club has confirmed.

The youngster spent the first half of the season on loan at Scunthorpe United, making just nine appearances in all competitions before returning to Yorkshire.

Daniel Farke has cleared the decks throughout the January transfer window, with Jenkins the latest to leave after Leo Hjelde moved to Sunderland at the start of the week.

Good luck, Jack

Jenkins was handed his senior debut in January 2021 during Marcelo Bielsa’s tenure, having signed his first professional contract in 2018, prompting many Leeds fans to sit up and take notice of a potential rising star.

However, that was the only first-team appearance he would make for the Whites, going out on loan to Salford City the following season, where he played 11 matches and scored one goal.

The 22-year-old was a constant performer throughout the different age groups at Thorp Arch, racking up 40 appearances for the U21s, a team for which he scored twice and assisted six goals.

He will be remembered most of all for his match-winning efforts as the U23s were crowned Premier League 2 Division 2 champions in the 2020/21 season, leaving a small legacy behind at the academy.

Leeds United

It is a sad ending to his career at Elland Road, though, with a drop of several leagues suggesting that he is nowhere near the level to play for Leeds in the Championship.

The whole club has wished Jenkins good luck in his future endeavours, with Halifax just four points from the play-off spots in the National League. Promotion may be tough this season, with Bromley, Barnet, Solihull Moors, Altrincham, Oldham and Aldershot Town all in contention.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites could now move fast to sign a West Ham defender with just a few negotiation points left to iron out.
