Jack Harrison ‘very close’ to signing new Leeds United contract – John Percy

Jack Harrison is “very close” to signing a new contract to extend his stay at Leeds United, according to The Telegraph journalist John Percy.

Harrison was on the verge of a £22m move to Leicester on transfer deadline day in January, before the club pulled the plug two hours before 11pm and told him the deal was off.

He is now on the verge of signing a new contract with the club, extending his stay beyond 2024 when his current contract is set to expire.

Writing on his personal Twitter account (6 April) journalist Percy wrote, “Jack Harrison is very close to signing a new deal at [Leeds United].

In the interview, he says the player is “set to sign a new contract” and “his commitment to the club is not in question.”

Excellent

Harrison had a tough time in the middle section of the season, and clearly the form of the team greatly affected him.

He started the season really well but eventually lost his place in the side under Jesse Marsch and looked all set to leave the club before the manager had a change of heart.

But since Marsch has left and Javi Gracia has come in, we’ve seen a rejuvenation of his great form and he has now established himself as a regular in the side again.

Leeds United

The 25-year-old has racked up three goals and an assist in his last four games to help the team climb out of the relegation zone and create a small gap between themselves, and will be hoping to continue that against Crystal Palace on Sunday (9 April).

The new contract protects his value should the club suffer the worst and be relegated, but also confirms that he wants to be at Elland Road and is committed to helping this club get better.

It’s great news and we have a brilliant player for a little bit longer now.
