Jack Harrison now set to sign new Leeds United contract as Leicester City offer matched – Sky Sports

Leeds United forward Jack Harrison is now set to sign a new deal at Elland Road after the club decided to match Leicester City’s offer following a failed move to the King Power, according to Sky Sports journalist Rob Dorsett.

The 26-year-old looked set to leave Elland Road during the January window, with the Foxes holding a firm interest in the former Manchester City academy star.

The Athletic journalist David Ornstein reported on Saturday afternoon [28 January] that the Foxes made the offer of £20million to the Yorkshire outfit, and the club were debating whether to sell him.

However, things have dramatically changed in the space of a few days, with the Whites hell-bent on securing the 26-year-old’s immediate future at Elland Road.

According to reliable Sky Sports journalist Dorsett, the Whites recalled the player during his medical with Leicester City after they changed their minds about a sale and decided to match the Foxes’ wage offer.

Taking to Twitter [2 February] Dorsett tweeted: “Excl: Jack Harrison set to sign new Leeds contract, after being recalled by the bosses mid-medical on deadline day, as he was about to complete a £20m move to Leicester City. Leeds changed their minds, offered to match Leicester’s wage offer, and Harrison went back to Elland Road.”

Great news

Harrison is a crucial player for Leeds and Marsch, and while the attacking department in the squad looks well-stocked with the recent signings of Wilfried Gnonto, Georginio Rutter and Luis Sinisterra, the 26-year still remains one of Marsch’s most vital components.

When the 26-year-old plays, everything seems to come together for Leeds in attack, and it is why the club are right to continue their relationship for the foreseeable future.

Leeds United

30 goals and 29 assists in 186 outings at Elland Road show just how crucial he is to the club, and his qualities in the attacking third can only aid Marsch’s quest to keep the Whites in the Premier League.
