Jack Harrison in ‘dramatic U-turn’ at Leeds United amid fresh contract news

Jack Harrison’s new contract at Leeds United seals a “dramatic U-turn” after he almost left in January, according to Mirror journalist Ross Heppenstall.

Writing in the print edition of the newspaper on Friday (7 April, page 67), Heppenstall reported how Harrison’s deal comes after he was “set to join Leicester in January before the move collapsed”.

It was confirmed by Leeds on Thursday (6 April) that the 26-year-old winger had penned a new deal that lasts until the summer of 2028.

Leeds’ director of football Victor Orta waxed lyrical about Harrison in the announcement.

The Spaniard said: “He has an unbelievable attitude and only wants to continue improving. I know we will see him at his peak over the duration of the next five years.”

Five more years

We’re thrilled to see Harrison sticking with Leeds United for the long term.

However, if we get relegated from the Premier League this season, you’d have to think that there’ll be clubs who’ll want to snap him up.

Harrison has been criticised quite a lot in his time at Leeds because his form seems to come and go in waves.

For instance, he started this season brilliantly and there was even some faint talk of him being in contention for Gareth Southgate’s England squad at the World Cup.

But that died out as the winger’s form did and he hasn’t really rediscovered his best performances until Javi Gracia was appointed to replace Jesse Marsch in February.

Harrison’s now scored three goals in his last four appearances in the Premier League, in which Leeds have picked up seven points from an available 12.

If they continue winning points at this rate, they’ll easily avoid the drop.

We just don’t want Harrison’s form to dip again now he’s got this new contract.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites have made a £30million decision on a summer signing.
