Jack Harrison compares Leeds U23s star Crysencio Summerville to Ronaldinho
Jack Harrison was absent from the Leeds United side that shocked Manchester City on Saturday but he was still causing a stir in action for the U23s.
The 24-year-old was ineligible to face his parent club at the Etihad Stadium under the terms of his loan agreement but as is always the case under Marcelo Bielsa, he wasn’t allowed to rest on his laurels and put his feet up.
Instead, he was pressed into action for the second-string on Saturday as they took on York City in a friendly, scoring twice in a 4-1 win.
He took to his Instagram profile after and expressed his disappointment at missing a huge Whites win, “Gutted to miss out on the game today but a good week of training getting ready for the next game!”
Dutch sensation Crysencio Summerville, who has scored five and assisted six for the U23s in the Premier League 2 (Division 2) [Transfermarkt], replied to Harrison’s post with “your dribble” followed by a shocked face and flame emoji.
Harrison replied: “You were mini ‘dinho on the wing yesterday,” seemingly referencing former World Player of the Year winner Ronaldinho who was known for his silky skills for Brazil and elite clubs like Barcelona and AC Milan.
Excitement levels set to soar
Despite a slight mid-season lull that saw him left out of Whites starting XI against Aston Villa and West Ham recently, Harrison has been superb in his maiden Premier League season.
His seven goals have been crucial to inspire us to a comfortable mid-table position as we eye a top-10 finish.
Harrison knows a thing or two about skills so his comparison of Summerville and Ronaldinho has us excited.
Of course this was a tongue-in-cheek comment of a 19-year-old but the Leeds U23s ace has wowed onlookers this season following his move from Feyenoord in September.
Adam Forshaw recently said that a piece of skill Summerville performed in training was “like something out of a video game” [On The Ball], so he’s clearly impressing a whole host of senior stars.
Like Joe Gelhardt, we’re desperate to see Summerville make his Leeds United debut before the season’s conclusion.
