Jack Harrison agrees to sign new Leeds United contract – Sky Sports journalist

Jack Harrison is expected to sign the paperwork on his new Leeds United contract within the next 24-hours, Sky Sports’ Rob Dorsett reports.

The English winger has apparently agreed improved terms having come within hours of moving to Leicester City on deadline day of the January transfer window.

That episode led the 26-year-old to seek assurances over his status at Elland Road before reaching an agreement, but it appears the final hurdles have been cleared.

Dorsett reported via Twitter on Thursday afternoon (6 April): “Excl: Jack Harrison has agreed terms on an improved contract with Leeds.

“Expected to sign paperwork in the next 24hours Harrison wanted to stay, but also wanted reassurances after the club sanctioned his move to Leicester on Deadline Day.

“Now full agreement between the two parties.”

Finally

It has been so long-awaited that many fans would have been forgiven for fearing Harrison’s contract extension would go the way of Kalvin Phillips’ in never materialising.

His form had been a concern for some months earlier this season, contributing to a feeling that he wouldn’t be guaranteed to stay in West Yorkshire.

But under Javi Gracia he has been reborn with three goals and two assists in the Premier League under the Spaniard.

Leeds United

That has helped push the Whites to 13th place in the relegation battle and cemented his status as a sure-starter currently in the Leeds United team.

It has been a highly eventful season both positively and negatively for the former Manchester City man, but it looks like it is set to end on a high personally and for the team on current evidence.

The man who scored the goal on the final day at Brentford to keep the club in the Premier League last season is playing a key role in doing the same this campaign, and now appears set to be rewarded for those endeavours.

In other Leeds United news, Gracia is set to be without four players for the key clash with Crystal Palace.
