Jack Grealish plays role in convincing Kalvin Phillips to leave Leeds United for Manchester City

Jack Grealish reportedly played a part in convincing Kalvin Phillips to leave Leeds United for Manchester City this summer.

According to the Daily Star, the most expensive player in British football played an instrumental role in persuading the English midfielder, so much so that Phillips is also expected to join the same firm of football agents.

The 26-year-old has not yet been announced as a City player but it is only a matter of time before he will be seen donning their Sky Blue strip with Raphinha set to be on his way out of Elland Road as well.

It’s surprising that Phillips needed someone like Grealish to convince him to move to a team like City and work under arguably the best manager in the world in Pep Guardiola.

Not only are they super rich, but have been extremely successful in recent years and challenge for every tournament they participate in.

Phillips surely did not want to waste his prime years playing at Leeds and fighting relegation battles and City seemed the ideal move for him.

It’s not a different league so he will not need that extra time to adapt himself to the climate and style of play and Guardiola has a penchant for working with technical players.

Phillips fits the mould and is the archetypical midfielder that the Spaniard is known to groom and potentially turn into world class talents.

We cannot wait to see if he manages to start regularly as it will be extremely crucial for him in a World Cup year.

In other Leeds United news, the club have now opened talks with an ‘Incredible’ title-winning central midfielder to replace Kalvin Phillips.
