‘It is our understanding’ – Jim White details how long EFL games set to be suspended for

talkSPORT broadcaster Jim White has said “it is our understanding” that all UK football is set to be suspended until April 4.

That comes as the threat of the Coronavirus has increased after Boris Johnson said all sporting events would carry on as normal on Thursday.

Since then Mikel Arteta and Callum Hudson-Odoi have tested positive and some Premier League squads are in self-isolation.

The announcement from the EFL and the Premier League is expected sometime this morning.

Talking on the Jim White show (talkSPORT, Friday, 10am), White said, “It is our understanding that all UK football will be suspended until April 4.”

White went on to ask if it meant the entire season would be voided, but guest Simon Jordan said that was “unlikely” and would lead to legal action.

As White said, the expectation is that all games will be suspended, including Leeds’ clash with Cardiff on Sunday and the huge clash against Fulham on Wednesday.

If the games were suspended until April 4, that would also see games against Luton and Blackburn postponed too.

That would inevitably lead to the season ending late with the Euro 2020 finals possibly set to be postponed.

There are many other questions to be answered – such as what happens to loan players such as Ben White if the season goes on beyond his loan deal.

They’re for the future, though. For now, it looks like Leeds’ season is over for the foreseeable future at least.
