Updates emerge on Leeds United trio Junior Firpo, Illan Meslier and Kristoffer Klaesson

Leeds United defender Junior Firpo is expected to stay at Thorp Arch amid his current groin strain which is keeping him out of action.

According to the club’s official website, the left-back will not be flying to Spain and the same will be the case for Illan Meslier and Krisftoffer Klaesson.

The two goalkeepers are ruled out because of a viral and they will be expected to stay away from the rest of the team.

Via Twitter, Dinnery wrote, “Junior Firpo remains at Thorp Arch having picked up a groin strain, although it’s hoped that he will join up with the squad later this week. Illan Meslier and Kristoffer Klaesson haven’t travelled to Spain either. Both GKs are out of action because of ‘viral illnesses’.”

Another blow

Firpo just cannot catch a break at Leeds United as this is yet another injury for the former Barcelona left-back.

He arrived with so much hype and many thought that he would go on to become one of the better full-backs in the Premier League.

However, as time has flown by, he’s suffered injuries aplenty and is not even the best full-back at Elland Road.

Even Pascal Struijk, a cente-back by trade is doing better than Firpo at left-back which only tells you just how much he’s regressed.

Firpo is not doing himself any favours with these repetitive injuries and Jesse Marsch surely will not be impressed with his fitness record.

If the chance arrives in the window to cash in on him, we do not think that the American would vouch for him to stay as his sale can generate funds that can be reinvested elsewhere.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are now scouting an attacker at the World Cup and a January move appears to be on the cards for them.
