Injury expert shares Newcastle United update ahead of Premier League clash v Leeds United

Newcastle United will be without three first-team players for their Premier League clash against Leeds United on Saturday, according to injury expert, Ben Dinnery.

Defensive duo Jamaal Lascelles and Emil Krafth are both “ruled out” of the Elland Road clash and are not expected to return before the end of the 2022/23 season (Premier injuries).

Ryan Fraser will also be missing for Eddie Howe’s side after the former Bournemouth winger was banished to the under-21s. Sean Longstaff is also a doubt, with Dinnery rating his chances of playing against Leeds at “50 per cent”.

Make it count

Leeds need to make this home fixture count. Regardless of Newcastle’s league position, the Whites can ill-afford to pass up an opportunity to put points on the board. The Manchester City performance was much-improved, particularly in a defensive sense.

Sam Allardyce’s influence was there for all to see. The former West Brom boss had the players in a structure which was hard to break down for Pep Guardiola’s side, particularly in the second half. Considering City demolish teams at the Etihad, the Whites have to take positives from the 2-1 loss.

The fanbase will be hoping for a little bit more in terms of attacking threat when Newcastle make the trip to West Yorkshire. Keeping the ball out of the net will be a priority, but, Leeds need the three points. Potentially including Rodrigo from the start is the way forward.

The Spaniard looked far more effective than Patrick Bamford during his brief substitute appearance on Saturday (6 May).
