Injury Expert shares medical green signal probability as Leeds United eye Paddy McNair transfer

We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Leeds United...

Former Manchester United defender Paddy McNair unlikely to have issues with medical if Leeds United sign him, claims Rajpal Brar.

TeamTalk reported on 14 July that Leeds are among the clubs interested as their Championship rivals are willing to listen to offers for the Ireland international, 28.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said on McNair, “The Achilles injury sounds like it was tendinopathy and these aren’t all that uncommon so shouldn’t be that big of a problem with proper management.

Further, I believe the face injury was a contact injury so there’s not much you can do to account for that.

Lastly, he’s over five years removed from his ACL rupture and surgery so although the medical will be looking for changes at his knee, that’s typically more than enough time to recover from it fully.

The Whites have lost three central defenders this summer on loan as Robin Koch, Diego Llorente and Max Wober have all gone.

Furthermore, Rasmus Kristensen has also gone which means that Luke Ayling, who could play as a centre-back is now likely to be a full-back for the upcoming season.

There have been links with a number of players in that role and it remains to be seen if Gers end up buying McNair or any other centre-back from the Championship.

With Boro willing to let him go, it may make things easier for the Whites to get this deal done.

In other Leeds United news, an update has emerged on the club’s pursuit to sign two centre-backs this summer with a winger now on the radar as well.
