Injury expert shares Leeds United update ahead of Premier League fixture v Chelsea

Leeds United will be without three first-team players for their trip to West London to face Chelsea, according to injury expert Ben Dinnery.

Stuart Dallas and Rodrigo are still long-term absentees from Javi Gracia’s side and Dinnery doesn’t expect the Spanish striker to return until April at the earliest (Premier injuries).

Adam Forshaw is also out of action with a hip injury and will not feature against Graham Potter’s men on Saturday afternoon (4 March).

Pascal Struijk and Luis Sinisterra could feature in the capital with Dinnery rating their chances of playing at “25 per cent”.

Back to back

How good would back-to-back wins be? The Southampton game was a must-win and Gracia’s men did more than enough. We saw a solid defensive display which stifled their relegation rivals – and they must build on that this weekend.

Despite their immense attacking talent, Chelsea have scored just five goals in 2023. They’ve created plenty of chances but there’s a big issue at the top end of the pitch for Potter’s side. Considering the immense backing they’ve received from their American ownership, their failure to sign a striker has been their downfall. Kai Havertz simply isn’t the answer.

He may have scored important goals in the past, but he’s not the consistent goal threat which is required for a top club. Tottenham have Harry Kane, Manchester City have Erling Haaland, and Manchester United have Marcus Rashford.

From Leeds’ perspective, there’s a chance to build on their clean sheet against the Saints. The longer they frustrate their hosts, the more chance they will have of picking up a valuable three points.
