Injury Expert issues update on Leeds United defender Junior Firpo
We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Leeds United...
Leeds United defender Junior Firpo is still likely to miss a few weeks despite his return to individual training from a knee injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
Daniel Farke recently revealed that the former Barcelona full-back was back to training by himself on 18 September so is recovering well.
However, the injury expert still sees him being a few weeks away from returning and perhaps playing the entire 90 minutes of a game.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Firpo:
“My reading is that he likely had a setback during his rehab from the knee injury, the result of which was the hip injury.
“It’s not out of the ordinary as the body is challenged and has to adapt to new training loads.
“His path to returning will be the same principles – continue to progressively build strength, control, and conditioning and assess how he responds as he gradually returns to training.
“He still seems a few weeks away from returning and being ready to play 90 minutes.”

Firpo has had rotten luck with injuries since his move to Elland Road and has gone down as one of the worst signings of the Marcelo Bielsa era.
He arrived when the club desperately needed a solid left-back to replace Gjanni Alioski and he seemed to be an attacking option, ideal for Bielsa.
However, that move has not panned out and his lack of form and recurring injuries and been two major deterrents.
In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay claims that big European clubs have been keeping tabs on a Whites player for a while and are still willing to sign him.
