Marseille striker Bamba Dieng will board a private jet to fly into England and complete his Leeds United transfer on Thursday, according to The Athletic.

It is reported that the Whites will pay up to £8.6million including bonuses, and the Senegal international will sign a contract for four years at Elland Road.

The move should then allow Dan James to leave the club and join up with Fulham on a season-long loan move, which doesn’t appear to make much sense.

Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna has also updated fans on the situation, which has been described as an “incredible reversal” on deadline day.

“Info: Incredible reversal of the situation in the Bamba Dieng file,” he wrote.

“The OM striker will finally take the direction of Leeds.”

Incredible.

This is the one that no one really expected.

All of the news was surrounding Gakpo and Hwang but both PSV and Wolves have batted away approaches, whether only enquiries or an official bid.

With the jet from France not expected to take long, the medical and final stages should be completed way within the deadline at 11 pm, much to our delight.

We have seen far too much drama in recent deadline days, and even if this one is described as “incredible”, at least it should still be completed within days.

Dieng offers great pace from a number nine and the ability to score spectacular goals as he has proven with Marseille, something that any of our current options don’t have combined.

Leeds need an out-and-out number nine, and they are finally set to get a deal over the line for one which should lead to huge cheers throughout West Yorkshire.
