‘Immense’ – Many Leeds fans thrilled with ‘MOTM’, ‘Our best player’ despite loss v Sheff Weds
Kalvin Phillips appears to be the only player who impressed Leeds United fans in the 2-0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday at Elland Road on Saturday.
Phillips, 24, has been in superb form all season for Leeds and even though the Whites were nowhere near their best this weekend, the midfielder is still someone who stood out above the rest.
While some of his passing was a bit slack, WhoScored shows that the defensive midfielder completed 85 per cent of his passes.
Phillips also made four tackles, which was more than what any other player on the pitch managed in the Yorkshire derby showdown.
Gareth Southgate was reportedly in the stands to watch Phillips in action for Leeds amid calls that he should be in contention for a call-up to the England squad [Daily Mail].
And Phillips certainly would have impressed the Three Lions manager based on the stats and how much he thrilled the Leeds United supporters with his performance.

It is pretty hard to point out who Leeds’ best player was on Saturday because it was such a poor performance.
However if someone was going to be named as man of the match then there is probably no better candidate than Phillips.
In other Leeds United news, Derby are more likely than Leeds to sign this Premier League striker.
