Paul Merson and Tim Sherwood have lauded Leeds United and Marcelo Bielsa despite their latest 1-0 defeat in the Premier League against Wolves.
Despite having numerous chances, the home side stole the three points when Adama Traore’s thunderous strike hit Illan Meslier after the bar and trickled over the line.
The Sky Sports duo admitted they were disappointed to watch the Whites crash at Molineux, as they sat in awe of El Loco on the touchline.
Speaking on Sky Sports over the weekend, Merson appeared to admit his love for the Whites and their style of play.
“That’s why I love watching them and I was disappointed on Friday.
“I was disappointed because I love watching them and I can understand what the manager is doing, I tell you, I don’t know when the game is safe when you’re playing against Leeds.”
Sherwood seemed to agree, singling out Bielsa for praise and claiming he could just sit and watch the manager for the entire game to try and work him out.
“I could watch him [Bielsa] for 90 minutes, he just fascinates me.
“He’s a breath of fresh air.”
This just proves that Leeds are nearly everyone’s second team this season.
Merson was one of our strongest critics at the start of the campaign, but it has only taken half of the campaign and a couple of months to turn that around.
Sherwood went on to claim that the Whites will only get better too as they strengthen their squad further, something that looks set to happen again over the summer.
Bielsa attracts big-name players, as proven with Rodrigo and Raphinha, and another couple of similar signings could see Leeds become real players in the race for Europe next season.
