‘Illegal’ – LUTV pundit makes Pablo Hernandez claim after U23s cameo in Fulham win
Ben Parker has claimed that it should be “illegal” for Leeds United playmaker Pablo Hernandez to play for the under-23s.
The Whites’ under-23s side swept aside Fulham 7-1 at Thorp Arch on Monday afternoon, with the Spaniard starring against the Londoners.
Mark Jackson named a number of senior players in his side, with Helder Costa, Ian Poveda and Tyler Roberts also all starting.
Speaking on live coverage of the game on LUTV, Parker joked that players such as Hernandez shouldn’t be allowed to feature at this level.
“I think it’s illegal now for Pablo to play in these fixtures because it’s just too easy for him,” he said.
“It’s a great finish, I think the keeper has tried to have a gamble that it’s down to his right-hand side. Pablo just caps what you would call a Pablo performance, he’s just running the show.”
Hernandez and the under-23s were superb on Monday.
Watching live coverage of the clash went some way to erasing the memory of the senior side getting destroyed in terms of scoreline against Manchester United.
El Mago has been back on the bench in the Premier League side and recently claimed two assists in eight minutes against Newcastle.
The Spaniard didn’t get on at Old Trafford, but he could have made a big impact against the Red Devils given the space on offer all over the pitch.
Hernandez is far too good to be left with the under-23s, and he is bound to play a big role over the Christmas period, with three games in less than a week coming up.
