Illan Meslier shares two-word message as Leeds United confirm crushing news

Illan Meslier has sent his Leeds United teammate Pascal Struijk a two-word message on social media after he’s been ruled for the rest of the season.

The Dutch centre-back confirmed the news in a post on his Instagram page on Wednesday (27 March), where he revealed that he’s undergone successful groin surgery.

Meslier responded to the 24-year-old’s post by simply saying “Mon frere”, which translates to “My brother” in English.

Pascal Struijk news disappointing for Leeds United

There will be great disappointment from Leeds and Struijk himself that he isn’t going to be able to play any further part this season.

The defender was a constant in the side before suffering his injury towards the back end of last year, with Ethan Ampadu replacing him at centre-back over the past few months.

The Welshman has done a superb job in his absence, having built up an excellent partnership with his compatriot Joe Rodon, but competition for places is always healthy.

While the Whites are ticking along nicely at this moment in time, there would be concerns raised if either of those two were to pick up any issues heading into the final few weeks of the campaign.

But as long as that doesn’t happen, then Daniel Farke’s side should be well-set to continue their promotion push in Struijk’s absence at Elland Road.
