Illan Meslier redemption arc continues, Crysencio Summerville and Joel Piroe struggle – Three things learned in Leeds United v Leicester City
Leeds United secured a famous away win at the King Power Stadium on Friday, 3 November, beating Leicester City 1-0.
Georginio Rutter scored the only goal of the game and the Whites had to rely on heroics from Illan Meslier at the end to secure the win.
Crysencio Summerville and Joel Piroe, who have been impressive of late, did not have a game worth writing home about while the rest of the players thrived.

Meslier silences critics
A number of Leeds fans wanted Meslier gone after his displays last season as they failed to grasp the reason for his performances.
With a shaky defence ahead of him and managerial changes, the Frenchman did not get the confidence a balanced squad would give him between the sticks.
However, he’s been imperious under Daniel Farke and many can argue, he’s been the best keeper in the Championship this season.

Summerville and Piroe underwhelming
It’s not often that Leeds pick up the three points when both Summerville and Piroe aren’t at their best, but this was the case in this game.
Summerville started on the left flank and struggled a great deal in the first half, failing to complete most of his dribbles and virtually offering nothing off the ball.
Piroe too had a chance to find the back of the net, which a player of his calibre should be scoring, and even apart from that, he struggled to be as influential as he has been when he was scoring and setting up chances for fun.
In contention for automatic promotion
The gap between the two sides could’ve been 17 points at the end of the game had the result gone elsewhere but it’s now down to 11.

While that’s still a lot, the Whites showed the blueprint of beating the Foxes at home and they can now build on this and go on a run.
Ipswich Town remain just six points away and winning away to the league leaders can give Leeds the confidence they need to finish in the top two this season.
In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay claims that big European clubs have been keeping tabs on a Whites player for a while and are still willing to sign him.
