Illan Meslier can finally be of use to Daniel Farke as Leeds United have PSR solution
Daniel Farke will hope Illan Meslier can finally sort out his future at Leeds United before the winter transfer window.
The French goalkeeper has dropped down the pecking order after his consistent errors in the Championship last season.
Meslier was linked with a return to Lorient in the summer, but the shot-stopper’s exit didn’t end up materialising in LS11.
Now, Farke has to deal with Profit and Sustainability Regulations (PSR) concerns at Elland Road, but the 25-year-old could potentially finally be of use to the West Yorkshire outfit.
Anderlecht eye Illan Meslier transfer from Leeds United in January
Anderlecht are confident they can sign Meslier from Leeds in the winter transfer window, according to Voetbal News.
The news outlet reported on 27 October that the Jupiler Pro League outfit feel the goalkeeper’s signing in January is attainable, as his £30,000-a-week salary expectations could be achieved through signing fees, bonuses and the length of his potential contract.
With the Whites’ spending in January restricted by PSR, the Frenchman’s exit may be a solution to do some business at Elland Road.
Meslier’s time at the West Yorkshire outfit has undoubtedly come to an end after becoming the third-choice keeper.
The shot-stopper signed for the Peacocks in 2019 on an initial loan before his move was made permanent, and established himself as the number one for several seasons.
However, Farke seemed to have had enough of the former Lorient star’s errors at the West Yorkshire outfit, signing Lucas Perri in the summer.

Inter Milan midfielder Piotr Zielinski has been linked with a move to Elland Road, but PSR restrictions may hinder their approach.
If Leeds can get Meslier’s wages off their books, they could potentially make an offer for the 31-year-old Poland international’s loan in LS11.
