‘Ignorant’, ‘Uninformed’ – Some Leeds fans hit out at commentator after ‘clueless’ Nketiah claim
Eddie Nketiah scored against League One side Portsmouth on Monday night so of course that proves he could have fired Leeds United to promotion.
That’s the odd view by beINSPORTS commentator Ben Jacobs anyway, who claimed that if Marcelo Bielsa utilised the 20-year-old more often at Elland Road then a return to the Premier League would already be sealed by now.
Nketiah spent the first half of the season on loan at Leeds but was recalled by Arsenal in January after starting just two Championship fixtures.
The England Under-21 international was very rarely used due to Bielsa’s insistence upon starting Patrick Bamford in the league and the youngsters two starts only came due to Bamford picking up an injury in December.
Since returning to Arsenal, Nketiah has been in decent goalscoring form.
He’s made six appearances in all competitions for the Gunners, scoring three goals in the process with his most recent one coming at Fratton Park in the FA Cup on Monday night.
Nketiah is also getting to start games for the Gunners, which is great news for him because he’s already started as many Premier League games this season than he did Championship games for Leeds.
But should Leeds have tried to profit more from having the young striker in their squad?
After Jacobs made that stunningly bold claim on Twitter on Monday night, a lot of Leeds fans were quick to defend Bielsa’s decision to continually overlook the Arsenal ace.
Here is a selection of their tweets:

In other Leeds United news, West Brom’s latest injury blow could be a boost for Leeds as they hunt for automatic promotion.
