'If they don’t go up you’ll see him move' - Bruce makes transfer claim about Leeds player

Former Hull defender Alex Bruce has claimed that Kalvin Phillips will leave Leeds United in the summer if they miss out on promotion.

Phillips, 24, has been a stand-out player for the Whites under Marcelo Bielsa’s leadership but the downside of that has been continual links with him and the Premier League.

As it stands, Leeds are in a good position to secure automatic promotion from the Championship with 10 games to play but, as everyone knows very well, anything can happen in England’s second-tier.

While Phillips is a boyhood Leeds fan who was born in the city, many would expect to see him leave in the summer if the Yorkshire giants miss out on promotion.

Bruce is someone who believes that too as he reckons there’ll be plenty of clubs with their sights on the midfielder in the summer transfer window.

“Yeah, I’d imagine that there’s been a lot of teams looking at him and it wouldn’t surprise me if there were a lot of teams looking to get him out of Leeds,” Bruce told Football Insider.

“I think this year, it’ll be huge. If they don’t go up you’ll see him move.

“He’ll be hoping as a Leeds lad that he can get in the Premier League, and we all
know how big a club Leeds is.

“Leeds United in the Premier League is a good club to be at and I’m sure that’s what he’ll be looking to do.”

No one should hold it against Phillips in the summer if that is what happens but for now, everyone needs to be focused on just getting promotion to the Premier League.

While it’s all looking good at the moment, we know how a couple of bad weeks can reverse all of the club’s hard work and drop them out of the top-two.

Phillips will no doubt be fully focused on that and so should everyone else.

In other Leeds United news, Hull fans are furious about what happened with Leeds supporters at the KCOM on Saturday.
