Ibiza give up on their season as Leeds United loanee Mateusz Bogusz allowed to join LAFC

Leeds United loanee Mateusz Bogusz is heading for MLS club Los Angeles FC amid issues at current side Ibiza, who are “giving up” on their relegation-threatened season, according to Marca.

As reported by Spanish journalist Matteo Moretto, only the minor details of the deal remain, with Leeds expecting to “receive a good amount for his transfer.”

Attacking midfielder Bogusz joined the Whites from Polish side Ruch Chorzow, but has made just three Leeds appearances due to loan spells at Segunda Divison clubs Logrones and current side Ibiza.

“The Polish player, on loan from Leeds to Ibiza, is about to sign with Los Angeles FC,” as quoted by Marca. “This agreement would leave a significant amount of money in the Ibizan coffers for agreeing to leave before the end of his assignment.

“Of course, facing the outside it would be a clear sign that the club is giving up the season by allowing a player who has been the undisputed starter since Alcaraz’s arrival on the bench to leave.”

Moving on

The youngster’s switch from Ibiza to LAFC looks almost 100% completed, with Ibiza currently struggling in Segunda Divison, sitting second bottom in the table.

Bogusz has been a regular for the Spanish side in recent times, but clearly wants a new challenge after almost two seasons and nearly 50 caps at Ibiza.

Despite his versatility, being able to play anywhere across the front line, in attacking midfield and even in defensive midfield, there is seemingly no future for the 21-year-old at Elland Road.

A new venture could reignite his club career, but also his international career, with Bogusz undoubtedly eyeing a place in the Poland senior squad after representing his nation at various youth levels.

New Poland manager Fernando Santos has already turned to MLS for his first squad as boss, calling up Charlotte FC forward Karol Swiderski for the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers against the Czech Republic and Albania.
