Ian Wright sends Big Sam Willy Gnonto message as Leeds United battle relegation from Premier League

Ian Wright believes that Sam Allardyce needs to unleash Willy Gnonto if Leeds United are to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

The Italy international was not in the eleven in the 2-2 draw against Newcastle on Saturday, 13 May, and came off the bench in the second half.

The former Arsenal forward believes that he can be the game changer for the Whites if they are to stay up.

Speaking on the Kelly & Wrighty Show, Wright said (15/03, 14:42), “You need someone to step up. Whether it’s Harrison or Gnonto. Why not start Gnonto and the exciting players so it gets you going? They need some brilliance to stay up.”

Makes sense

Patrick Bamford needs to be taken out of the firing line and it’s best if Big Sam opts to drop him from the eleven for the next game.

He is a decent striker but his recent form has been far from good and he also does not seem to be in the best of places, given the hate he’s received from the fans.

Gnonto has played as a number nine in his career and does feature there for his national side as well on occasion and is a proven goal scorer.

He has the ability to make the difference in the final third and has the ability to take players on for fun and make things happen for the Whites.

Allardyce himself is a fan of Gnonto and we will be surprised if he’s not in the playing eleven for the next game which is a must-win for the Whites.

They’ve shown plenty of heart against Manchester City and Newcastle so it’s evident that Allardyce has managed to garner support from the dressing room.

In other Leeds United news, an exit-bound senior player was spotted in tears after what happened recently.
