Ian Wright savages Leeds United ace Adam Forshaw v Norwich City

Ian Wright has savaged Leeds United mainstay, Adam Forshaw, despite the crucial 2-1 win against Norwich City.

The BBC pundit was not happy that the midfielder continued to ignore long balls to the returning Patrick Bamford.

The England international continued to make runs in behind, and Wright was adamant that he had to be found.

Speaking on Match of the Day 2, Wright tore Forshaw apart for his lack of passing bravery in the opening 45 minutes.

“What he [Bamford] does, he keeps Leeds in an area of the field where they can continue to attack Norwich,” he said.

“When you’re playing like that, you get these opportunities, look at how much space and time Forshaw has, put it in there.

“He [Bamford] makes a great run, he doesn’t do it, he gets another chance, put it in there, he sees him, put that in there because he is doing a lot of work for the team, so he can have a run at them.

“This is the annoying bit because he says sorry to him, sorry isn’t going to help him.”

Wright and most likely Bamford will have every right to be annoyed that he wasn’t being found at Elland Road.

In defence, though, this is a Leeds side that has been without Bamford and his runs for months now, and he is finally back.

It will take time for this so-called new-look attack to get used to for not just them, but for the players behind who have been used to maybe Dan James up there.

Jesse Marsch will be hoping it does click, and it did at points as the half went on, with Bamford missing a sitter after peeling off perfectly for Raphinha to send him through.

As well as Forshaw not playing the balls, Bamford also missed his chances, so there is definitely work to be done on the training pitch before Wolves on Friday.

One man who would find those passes is Kalvin Phillips, and it is very clear that we still miss his presence, bring on his return.
