Ian Wright questions mentality of Leeds United ace Dan James

Ian Wright has questioned the mentality of Leeds United attacker Dan James after his red card against Chelsea.

He believes that the Wales international got carried away with the instructions that were given to him, given the pressures of a relegation battle.

Wright thinks that James needs someone to talk to him and calm him down to take the pressure off him.

Speaking on the Kelly & Wrighty Show, he said, “I saw Dan James’ challenge. Reckless. You can see he’s fired up and wound up. If you’re telling Dan James ‘We need to do it in front of our fans’ he’s going to get carried away. Someone needs to talk him down.”

Woeful campaign

James’ Leeds United career has not gotten off to the start he would have wanted.

There were eyebrows raised when Marcelo Bielsa wanted the Welshman to join the club in the summer and that scepticism appears validated.

He’s struggled to nail down a regular starting berth and due to the number of injuries, has found himself playing in a plethora of positions.

While he’s got on age on his side, there remain questions about his mentality and his ability as he clearly does not seem to be a player to win games single-handedly.

Being one of the most expensive purchases in Leeds’ history, the expectations have to be high and he’s not living up to them thus far.

We’re hoping things change for him next season or he could soon be on his way out of Elland Road.
