Ian Wright makes admission on Leeds United loanee Dan James after what he did for Wales v England at World Cup 2022

Ian Wright admits that the England players often looked like they were afraid of Leeds United loanee and Fulham man Dan James closing them down.

The Three Lions won the game 3-0 on 29 November and ended up winning their group, but it was a slow start for them and they failed to score in the first half.

James, whose Welsh side were chasing shadows all game, did a decent job at closing the England players down by running at them with intensity.

Speaking on the Wrighty’s House podcast, Wright said at 10:30, “You cannot tell me that they were afraid of Daniel James. Daniel James is not somebody for me, in the way he plays, with all due respect to him, that you should be that much afraid. You’ve got to deal with the break if that happens.”

Way back at Leeds?

When James was first targeted back when Leeds were in the Championship, there was some excitement over his potential transfer.

However, after the eventful deadline day, he did not get his move and then months later was playing Premier League football for Manchester United.

It’s fair to say that move didn’t work out and the Old Trafford outfit were looking to ship him off.

Surprisingly, Leeds managed to buy him for a fee that saw Manchester United make a profit off him and that was not very good business.

Even on loan at Fulham, he’s really not ruffling any feathers as he’s very one-dimensional and does not offer too much more apart from his work rate.

For the price Leeds paid for him, it’s impossible to recoup it in the summer, but we will be really surprised if he ever kicks a ball for the Whites again as a summer move should be on the cards.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are now scouting an attacker at the World Cup and a January move appears to be on the cards for them.
