Ian Wright leads congratulations on Twitter after Leeds secure PL promotion

Ian Wright has taken to Twitter to congratulate Leeds United on their promotion back to the Premier League.

The Whites were finally able to wrap up their return to the top flight after 16 years away when West Brom lost to Huddersfield Town on Thursday evening.

That result means that Marcelo Bielsa’s men cannot be caught by third-placed Brentford, and will finally get the opportunity to go toe-to-toe with England’s biggest clubs once again.

And Wright led the praise on social media as the Whites began their celebrations.

Writing on his personal account, he said: “Congratulations LUFC”, followed by several applauding emojis and love hearts.

Wright was quickly joined by numerous stars from across the professional game, including Javier Mascherano and Benjamin Mendy, who both expressed their appreciation on social media.

It’s happened.

After 16 years, Leeds United are back in the Premier League.

Let us say that again: Leeds United are back in the Premier League.

There were times when it felt as if this moment would never come, but it’s here, and it’s absolutely incredible.

It doesn’t matter that we didn’t win it on the pitch – it doesn’t even really matter that it Wass Huddersfield who gave us a helping hand – the only thing that matters tonight is that Leeds are a top flight club again.

And the reactions of people like Wright, Mendy, and Mascherano, top names from such a broad spectrum of the modern game, just goes to show how well-respected and massive this club has become under Bielsa.

The Premier League will be a better place for having us in it, and next season is going to be a dream come true.
