Ian Poveda unlikely to ever make it at Leeds United despite ‘Outstanding’ Colombia reviews
Mark Smith is a lifelong Leeds United fan thanks to his dad and was forced to grow up watching the -15 season and fallout from Premier League relegation in the early 2000s. He’s now putting his passion for the Whites into words with a regular fan view for MOT Leeds News…
In something that we have rarely ever seen at Elland Road, Leeds United granted permission for Ian Poveda to join up with Colombia in the middle of the season.
Daniel Farke admitted that he will not stand in the way of any of his players representing their countries, and the winger starred in a 1-0 win over Venezuela.
With more games to come, Poveda is expected to miss another couple of games for the Whites, starting at Sunderland on Tuesday 12 December.

While Leeds continue to shine though, Poveda also caught the eye.
Colombian outlet Infobae singled out the 23-year-old for his recent performance, calling it “outstanding” as he looked to get on the ball and cause carnage at every opportunity.
Now, does that sound familiar?
Leeds and Farke have four players who do exactly that every single week, and at a much higher level than Poveda in the shape of Crysencio Summerville, Willy Gnonto, Dan James and Jaidon Anthony.

I won’t be the only one to view it differently to the positive that Poveda will feel it is, with the fact he was allowed to leave showing that he simply wasn’t needed at Elland Road.
Would Farke have allowed Summerville or even Gnonto to leave? Absolutely not.
Poveda is unlikely to ever make it at Leeds given his many years at the club already, and although that is never nice for a player, it is the bitter reality of professional football.
It’s time to move on, whether in January or the summer.
In other Leeds United news, Graham Smyth has speculated over an “unlikely” Daniel Farke call over the Christmas period.
