Leeds United midfielder Ian Poveda has pleaded guilty to driving offences, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The newspaper reported on its website on 12 September that the 23-year-old was accused of driving while disqualified and driving without insurance in April 2022.

It added that the Whites midfielder will be sentenced for the motoring offences on 6 October at Manchester Magistrates' Court.

Squad player

The newspaper reported that Leeds are yet to respond to a request for comment with regards to Poveda being sentenced for driving offences next month.

But given that the incident took place more than a year ago, there is a reasonable chance that the club have been aware of the matter for a while.

That means his current standing at Elland Road might not be set to change dramatically after he has been involved as a squad player during this campaign.

The midfielder featured under Daniel Farke during pre-season on his return to West Yorkshire following a loan spell with Blackpool last season.

He played 90 minutes for the Whites in the game at Birmingham City, but a groin injury then kept him out of action until he returned to the squad in the recent draw with Sheffield Wednesday.
