Gjanni Alioski has said that he wants to stay at Leeds United in a huge boost to the club as they look to close talks and get him signed on a new contract.
Alisoki is the one first-team player whose contract runs out in the summer and The Athletic reported that Marcelo Bielsa wants him to stay.
Talks were said to be at the preliminary stage but Alioski’s big declaration makes it look like they should be successful.
Talking on the BBC last night Alioski said, “I’m enjoying my life with Leeds and playing in the Premier League.
“My focus is with Leeds… We’re like a family.”
Talking about a new contract Alioski said, “Still nothing has happened. My contract ends next year. I’m not thinking that I want to leave Leeds. I would love to stay here.”
Alioski is hugely popular with the Leeds fans both on and off the pitch.
The joker in the pack off the pitch, he’s a hugely enthusiastic player on it.
He might only start regularly when injuries come knocking but he always puts in a shift and is a superb squad player to have.
It’s been quite a few months for Alioski as well, making his Premier League debut and helping North Macedonia qualify for a major tournament for the first time in their history.
Now it looks like he’s going to get a lucrative new deal with Leeds United and the sooner that’s tied up, the better.
He could have signed a pre-contract with an overseas club in January but it looks like he wants to stay with what he calls his “family”.
That’s what Leeds want and that’s what the fans want too.
