‘I just love’ – Sky Sports pundit ecstatic with Leeds ace after shining display v Liverpool

Sue Smith was blown away by the performance of Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich in the Premier League opener against Liverpool.

The Polish international opened his account for the season with a fine volley which saw the Whites equalise for the third time at Anfield.

Sky Sports pundit, Smith, claimed that goal epitomised everything Leeds are about under Marcelo Bielsa.

Smith claimed that she loves Klich in the heart of midfield, with his workrate something that always catches the eye when watching the Whites.

“Mateusz Klich’s goal showed how well it can work for a team. I just love Klich as a player and his workrate always stands out when I watch Leeds,” she wrote for the Yorkshire Post.

Writing further, Smith admitted that Patrick Bamford also getting on the scoresheet should do the strikers’ confidence a world of good looking forward.

“Patrick Bamford scoring was important not just in the context of the match, but for him personally. We know Bielsa is a big fan of his and, hopefully, after some difficult spells in the Premier League, that will get his confidence up.”

It seems strange to admit that before Bielsa arrived at Leeds, Klich was heading towards the exit door at Elland Road.

The 30-year-old has turned that around and has quickly become one of the most important parts of the South American’s side in the past two years.

His goal was exactly what he deserved in the Liverpool clash, but it was his defensive work that really caught the eye against the league’s best.

Klich completed four tackles, one interception and a couple of blocks and clearances according to WhoScored – as he nullified the Reds’ potent midfield all afternoon.

Smith is clearly a big fan, and after that performance, it is clear to see why.
