‘I got it 100% wrong’ – Troy Deeney shares Daniel Farke verdict after Leeds win vs Wolves
Daniel Farke has surprised a few doubters with Leeds United this season.
Leeds United’s 3-1 win over Wolves at the weekend saw them return to Elland Road with three points for the first time this season.
Their only other win arrived at home against Everton on the opening day, showcasing some of the struggles they have come across when adapting to life back in the Premier League.
However, with seven points from the first five games, many pundits and even fans are starting to backtrack on their early-season predictions, and Troy Deeney is no different.

Troy Deeney backed Daniel Farke for the sack at Leeds
Many thought Farke would be the first manager sacked in the Premier League this season, and based on his record in the top flight, it wasn’t exactly a far-fetched prediction.
However, while the German has still showcased some flaws in his management, he has proven a lot of people wrong with the way he has handled the start of the season.
Leeds so far this season
- 12th in Premier League
- Two wins
- One draw
- Four goals scored
- Seven goals conceded
Via his BBC Sport Team of the Week, Deeney has named the Leeds boss as the Manager of the Week, and explained how he forecast wrong on this occasion.
“Probably the only time I’m going to give it to him,” said Deeney.
“I put him up as one of those managers that might get the sack because of the way it ended last year. I have to say I 100% got it wrong.
“Wonderful win against Wolves away from home after going a goal down. He’s got his Leeds side fighting and trying to stay up.”

Leeds still have a few issues to iron out
With Dominic Calvert-Lewin scoring his first Leeds goal and Noah Okafor likewise, the major concern over where the goals are going to come from has been subdued, at least for now.
However, the nature of the goal conceded against Wolves will be something that the Whites look at throughout the course of the week.
They were wide open, and against better sides, gifting opportunities like that will only end in one way after 90 minutes have been played.
With that said, there are many, many positives to take from this weekend’s result that Leeds need to take forward with them into the next two games before the international break.
